I think, they work out about as much as the non-online marriages do. I met my fiancé online, we are very well-suited for each other; neither of us is social, we're "indoor" people leaning towards solitary intellectual pursuits (in other words, we're nerds) :) I can't imagine us meeting any other way - our paths simply would not have crossed. Long live online personals!

My dad met my stepmother online, and it seems to be working out for them. Granted they only met 4 years ago.
My stepsister met her hubby online, and things aren't so great with them 2. He got laid off from his job, and refuses to find another one. He refuses to do or even help with the household chores.
I personally think it depends on the people, not how they met. If both people in the marriage love and respect each other, then it will work out. If not, then the marriage won't work out.
Besides, you will know soon enough if you aren't compatible with a person before you marry them!!

I met my husband of 7months over 1 and 1/2 years ago on Match.com, at first, I thought it was such a nightmare with this scene - but I found a diamond in the rough!! It is possible.

Those relationships are just as good as those that start with a meeting at a bar or some other place. The internet is just a way for people to initially connect.

I did! I always thought it wasn't for me too, but my sister actually met my husband playing a game on yahoo and told me I needed to talk to him. We talked via computer and phone for a year and finally met (after talking that long) and we saw each other at least one weekend a month after that for the next 2.5 years and then I moved to where he lives...we got married 3 months ago.....wouldn't change a thing!

It's working for us. I think you have to be very honest about yourself for it to work and you can't take it too seriously until you meet in person and know if your personalities are really going to mesh. But you just never know.
By the way, I said I'd never meet someone online either. Surprise!
