Did you really take Siberian Ginseng without knowing why?
If you are taking 650 mg pills, the dose is once daily. It should not be taken with coffee or other caffeine drinks. Other than that, whether you take it with meals is up to your preference. I wouldn't take it with a heavy meal for maximum effect. When you first start taking it, you will experience some stimulant effect so don't take after 2 or 3 in the afternoon.
You will probably get some action/effect as soon as the pill dissolves - 45 minutes. You may feel more energy. However best effect is after taking every day for a week or more. Usually taken for 1 week up to 1 month.
Some of Eleuthero's many uses are:
Stress, improve capacity for mental & physical exertion, relieve shingles, atherosclerosis, increase cerebral circulation in elderly, fight viruses, lower blood sugar, invigorator, depression from overwork, jet lag, recovery from surgery, radiation injury, immune stimulant, increase fertility, inhibit HIV-1 replication in infected cells.

Siberian Ginseng is now called Eleuthero (due to government regulations). It is not a true ginseng but is a wonderful herb.
Eleuthero is an adaptogen. This means it helps the body to deal with the effects of stress, especially on the endocrine system (pituitary and adrenals). Because of this effect, it helps with mental clarity, anxiety and stress. It is also a "blood cleanser" which means it helps remove certain toxins from the body. It is used to treat the early stages of atherosclerosis.
It also helps to support and build the immune system. It is highly anti-viral which has been proven by studies done in Russia and the former East Germany. It is great to take if you are burnt out because it gives energy without causing nervousness and will help you from getting ill as a result of stress.
I suggest taking 1 capsule in the morning and one at noon and one in mid-afternoon. Most herbs will work better on an empty stomach (or at least not right after eating). Because each person is different, you may not want to take it too late in the afternoon because it may keep you awake.

There are types of Ginseng: American, Korean and Siberian.
I know it is for an energy boost and all that, but it also can be used for male verility. I think there are many people who consider it an herbal viagra.
