Honda cannot race in NASCAR by the current rules. They don't make an 8-cylinder model car.

Definitely not next season, but never say never. They seriously considered it at one point, but were stymied by the homologation. That's why a NASCAR race was held in Japan in 1999 for the first and last time.
My guess is that when Honda goes racing, they would rather be using a motor of their own manufacture so NASCAR might not be their cup of tea in any case. Soichiro Honda started out building racing bikes before he ever even thought about building street machines, so motosports are an essential part of the firm's R+D and image. For Toyota motorsports are mostly a marketing exercise, so they don't mind "outsourcing" their racing.

No toyota will.
Bear in mind that the engines and cars in nascar reflect the actual road cars only in front and rear bumper appearance. All of the parts on nascar cars are built not by GM, Ford, DaimlerChrysler or Toyota but by the teams themselves or nascar specificed builders (ie Jim Yates) to the nascar specifications. Nascar has tight regulations to keep the racing close and the car costs down. Otherwise you end up with Formula 1 where the teams with the most money win and 99% of the races over the last 20 years have been won by about 4 teams (ferrari, McClaren/Williams, Renault-formerly known as benetton, Lotus - no longer in F1)

Honda will not be in Nascar but if they do come in, watch out.
They build the 3.0 liter normally aspirated V-8 that is run in all Indycars and it has proven to be one of the most reliable racing engines to date. 2006 was the first year there were no engine failures at the Indy 500 and all 33 cars in the field had the same Honda engine.

No, but unfortunately Toyota will. I saw a Camry commercial the other day and at the bottom of the screen where all the "fine print" goes, it said, "built in Kentucky." I wanted to puke! If having an assembly line in America qualifies you to run in our stock car series, Hyundai should be looking to make its NASCAR debut in 2009. If they can figure out how to make a V8 that won't fall apart!
I hope Waltrip, Jarrett, Vickers, and the rest of "Team Toyota" are going to learn enough Japanese to find the throttle next year.
