I think that's a pretty cool idea. I would totally go for it because it would be interesting to see the results. I'm not sure if I would, I think if you made it creatively, and not making it look like a boring old survey, people might take it. Maybe talk to a teacher or two about spending 5-10 minutes of one class having it be a mandatory survey for students so more people would take it? Good luck. :)

When he asks a question about science, explain the answer, then suggest that as a science fair experiment. He should choose the topic on his own. That's right, you know he can do it! Let him earn his own grades!

By eighth grade the idea is for him to come up with the project subject. Don't turn into one of those parents who thinks up the idea and then does the kid's work on the project too.

being in eigth grade, your child needs to do a science fair project that is really going to have some depth to it. A nice suggestion would be to do some thing on sound or sound waves. Musicians pay a lot of money to get a concert place that has great accoustics and if your child can do research on how to get better accoustic sound and conduct tests then maybe this project might have some time on its title. our kid needs to do reseach and pick what materials he/she wants to tuse to conduct his/her experiment.
