Answer #1 I have never heard anyone call a politician a public servant but if someone ever does they are probly on their payroll or they are just one of those optimistic people who don't see the lies and corruption present in our government.

Answer #2 a. Because everyone that has good ideas on how to help the community is too poor to pay for the campaign.

b. Because even if one of the above mentioned managed to get into office the current system of getting things done in our governmental system is too complex and you need to have support from other politicians who more then likely don't care about the community and even if they did it would still take an even longer time to get the changes made and the public adjusted and all the other crap that they throw in as a supposed "safety measure".

Politicians are suppose to serve the public that's why they are called public servants.
We elect them because we have to elect somebody.
The fact that they are professional lier's and cheats says more about themselves than us for electing them.

When speaking of politics I think it is important to look at the latin roots of the word. "Poli" meaning "Many" and "tics" meaning "bloodsucking insects".
