Okay, so maybe physical or mental yoga isn't considered a sport...

Anyway, I was wondering if there was a good around-the-house substitute for a yoga mat. I want to see if I like it before I try it, and I would prefer not to to invest $20 or more dollars until I decide I like doing yoga. I'm going to a yoga club at my school, and my teacher who is running it told me I would need some sort of mat. If it changes anything, it will be on short "office" carpet.

Please do help!

You need something your feet will stick to a little-- don't suppose you have one of those rubber mats for your bath tub?

I've personally never used a mat and never felt the need for one. I've done yoga in bare floor, carpeted floor, you name it.

You could also try one of those plastic mats that go under rolling chairs if you have one handy.

Or try a discount store and get a cheap welcome mat.

What about a kindermat? Or a beach mat?
Don't use blankets or towels, because they slide. You need a non-slip, non-"bunching" surface.
