To get rid of acne/pimples, use an acne treatment with benzyl peroxide. To prevent acne from coming back, drink plenty of water every day. Use a daily face wash with salicylic acid in it to unclog dirt and oil from pores, which cause pimples. Make sure to moisturize every day too, because acne medicine will otherwise dry your face out. If your face thinks that it is being dried out, it will produce even more oil, causing acne. And you also said you think your face looks dull, so get a tinted moisterizer. I would highly recommend Jergens Natural Glow tinted moisterizer. It gives your face a natural glow in about 2 weeks. As for make-up products, I'm not sure about any specific brand, but just make sure the foundation and powder say oil free. Hope I helped.

If you have a doctor, visit your doctor and start a medication regimen to get rid of the acne. I tried every over the counter product with no luck until i got a pill/cream combo from my doctor.
If you don't have one- try a Salicyclic Acid face wash (like neutrogena clean and clear?)An astringent that has Salicyclic acid, or peroxide as the main ingredient, and then use a cream that has peroxide in it (peroxide will dry it out).

As far as makeup goes- try one that is non-comodegenic (which means it won't clog pores)
And or Oil Free..

Bare Minerals is good, and they have a type of powder that you can put over the makeup that will soak up oil. But i have noticed it makes my t zone oily..so..not sure how it would work for you.

I highly suggest visitng your doctor if you have one. It will speed up the healing process.

You need to buy a face wash for oily and acne prone skin. I have really oily and acne prone skin. I use Avon Clear ZSkin Purifying Gel for Normal to Oily Skin and Clean & Clear Deep Cleaning Astrigent. Wash your face before you put on your makeup in the morning and at night before you go to bed because if you sleep with makeup on your pores will be clogged for two weeks!

As for the makeup, buy one that is noncosmegenic which means it won't clog your pores! I use Dream Matte Mouse. Its really lightweight, covers really well, and lasts long. I also use a bronzer. Just brush it lightly across your nose and forehead and then a little bit darker where you would put blush.

I would go to the MAC counter at Nordstroms and have them tell me what color foundation will make my skin have a not so pale look. Concealer will hide the blemishes, but you really need to make sure you wash and moisturize your skin before applying makeup and when you take it off at night. Use Cetaphil soap and moisturizer. It's a little more expensive, but it lasts long time and it's dermatologist recommended. They also have towelettes that will take care of the oily skin while you are out.

I'm a big fan of those mineral type powders or all natural face powders. They are way better for your skin and acne and cover well. You might want to buy an oil free bronzer, perhaps bronzing beads/pearls, and lightly dust your cheek bones for more color and depth. I also recommend finding a pretty, shimmery eye shadow and some mascara... If you do your eyes up well, you'll be amazed at how good you look overall. :) You might try going to one of the websites of a brand name makeup company. They can give recommendations based on your skin tones and a lot of them even demonstrate how to put it on. Good luck!

Ok.....The advice I give you is based on my personal experience.

Slowly but surely I have been progressing from drug store makeup (covergirl, revlon up to department store stuff- i.e. Mac, Lancome, Estee Lauder).

Before you pack on any makeup - i suggest using a good cleanser to clean your skin - you obviously have oily skin (chose products for combination skin or oily skin), then use a good toner / astringent to wipe off excess dirt and oil and finally moisturize...this doesnt have to be expensive stuff but you should do this daily before applying makeup.

I recommend using Clinique if you are young (21 or younger) its not as expensive as you think and it actually lasts longer than the cheap stuff because you dont need so much. If you are older than 21 and like looking good, I suggest Mac, its also fairly inexpensive and looks flawless........good luck. I use some products from Lancome too but they arent as cheap. Good luck and thanks for caring about your skin ! I wish more people would....especially the pre-makeup suggestions, it pays off when you are old and wrinkled if you take care of your skin now : )

I suggest Arbonne products. They are all herbal and botanical so they are good for your skin. Try to stay away from anything with Mineral Oil in it. Molecules in Mineral oil are too large to penetrate your skin just giving your skin a saran wrap effect. This causes a build up of bacteria in your pores and break outs. The colors are beautiful, you look natural, Our bronzing powder gives you a nice glow too. Moisturizers are light and self adjusting to what your skin needs. I would love to help with any more info.

I used to break out on my forehead a lot and I started using Proactiv, which worked really well. But I got sick of paying for it, so I use Clearsil now, which does a good job, too. I never break out anymore. As for makeup, Cover Girl TruBlend is so amazing. It feels super light, but lasts long and really brightens your skin. I love it. You might also want to try an exfoliator for dull skin, like St. Ives Apricot Scrub. It sort of wakes up your skin.

*as for that toothpaste idea - it's good for one or two zits, but if you want to clear up a whole area, don't do it! it will dry out your skin.

There are loadsa brands that make foundation for oily skins that actually absorb the oils and that will give you some colour to yourt face... Use sun balls (any type) - if you are fair always use loadsa mascara cause it makes your eyes more interesting and AVOID dark eyeliners ... If you dont wear loads of make up a simple lip gloss and bit of mascara can make such a difference and most importantly... ALWAYS SMILE... its the easiest way to brighten up your day!

while you're making use of eyeshadow, then you definately might desire to do your eye makeup first. explanation why is using the fact if there is any fallout interior the eyeshadow, it is going to land everywhere and make a multitude. then you definately might might desire to eliminate it and ruining your face makeup. in case you watch Michelle Phan on YouTube, you will possibly observe that she places on face makeup after making use of eyeshadow while doing her eye makeup. while you're basically doing mascara/eyeliner (no longer something with powder), it truly is nice so which you are able to place face makeup on first. putting face makeup on first is likewise solid in case you have discoloration around the attention and lid section. wish this helped :)
