i was in complete shock when i heard my son's heartbeat for the first time. I just held my woman's hand and smiled. I was so excited that I taped it on my phone (voice memo) for the maximum amount of time it would let somethign be recorded. The next day, i was walking around making everyone listen to it. :)

The first heartbeat almost makes your heart stop. Its just so surreal to know that this is a real being inside you. My husband was there both times we were able to hear the heartbeat for the first time----I think he had the same reaction. Neither of us wanted to move or breathe or cough or anything until she took the doppler away.
The first movement I felt was the same way. It's one of those things that you wish would happen again and again. When my husband could first feel the baby, I think it kind of freaked him out. He thought it was weird.

I was over-joyed when I heard the heartbeat, my husband was with me and we were all smiles! I had a miscarriage on my very first pregnancy, and I wasn't able to hear the heartbeat before I passed everything. So going into the appt. I was so nervous and scared about the what if's, my husband was very supportive, but all is well, and I can't wait til my next appt! We haven't felt the baby move yet but we get our ultrasound in the middle of Sept.!

I think it was one of the greatest feelings in the world. I have 3 kids and with each one I couldn't wait to hear the heart beat. And feel it move. My hubby actually teared up when he saw the sonogram and heard the heart beat for the first time. And it is the most awesome feeling when they are born, I can't even explain the feeling. I am sure your friend is going to feel real emotional but happy. Tell her good luck.

I said OMG,and I cried tears of joy.I remember thinking how she was a miracle growing inside me.Her father wasn't there9he had to work) but I bought a fetal heart monitor so he could hear when got home.He was amazed too.I was almost 6 months pregnant when I found out and had been feeling her kicking for a few months, although I never thought I might be pregnant.I am embarrassed to say that the movement I was feeling in my abdomen had me terrified.I thought of what it could be,but Never imagined I was pregnant. She is two years old now and the love of our lives.

I was so excited when I first heard my daughters heartbeat.I was also scared because that day I heard it was the reality that I was pregnant.I couldnt believe a human being was beginning to develope in my body.I was with my daughter's father and he was even speechless. To sum it all up the feeling I experience was a mixture of many feelings of emotions but mainly excitement. And congrats to your friend and a healthy pregnancy.

the first time i heard my babies heartbeat it brought me this sense of joy. it was so nice to hear it, that was my favorite part of every doctor appointment (besides the ultrasound) my husband got a huge smile on his face.

yeah, it's exciting. i mean...i wasn't moved to tears, but it's definitely a neat experience and i like to hear it. that way i know he's in there growing and being strong.
as for who was there....
just me and the doctor. my husband was on a mission to Iraq and was somewhere between here and there. but, he's heard it since he got back and he thought it was pretty cool too!
it sounds like a washing machine!
