Well, certainly not if you were Bianca or Liza or Halston or Capote or other one-namers. :o)

My memory is that it was more of a prestige and couture (outfit) thing - if you looked the part to make it past the velvet rope, or were famous, or knew the right people, you were in. So I doubt many IDs were checked.

No actually they didnt. there are several stories of drew barrymore and others going in at very young ages. it had everything to do with status at that time
