I don't think kids are misbehaving because they listen to a certain kind of music--unless they have been specifically instructed to avoid that music, and are disobeying their parents.
Parents should teach children to use their mind when making moral decisions, but parents also have to give the child a moral foundation to start with (so the child knows right from wrong).
There are many reasons kids start smoking pot and having sex...the music industry is just one of them (songs about drug use and sex, music videos about drug use, sex, violence, etc.)

I think a parent should monitor everything their kids do. Its the job of the parent to attempt to raise their child of children with the very best values that can muster. I think the media plays a ver large role in the decisions that youth make regarding drug use and sexual participation. In many cases these musical personalities are the only role models that the children have and or identify. What plauges the youth of today is a sense of invincibility and the belief that it is ok not to care about anything. How wrong they are.

As for the music it depends on how old the child is, if they are 13 or under the parents should monitor it for content, but above that they should have instilled the kids values already and people have different tastes in music. The music industry has very little to do with how someone behaves I think it is more the case of how you behave and people you hang with influences your music preferences. Just what I think!

Parents should have guided their child from birth. Taught them right from wrong and how to make informed decisions.
The music industry should not be able to influence a child who has been given a good sense of right and wrong.

It is the parent`s job to filter thru all the stuff, and decide what is
"safe"for their children to see and listen to.That goes for tv,music, and movies. How the child turns out,is largely the
due to how they were raised.
Although my daughter turned out okay,I still don`t know if it was because of me,or in spite of me.She`s 28,and a great mother.

Parents are always going to look bad on newer things, just as their parents did. The reason for it is that MOST parents only want the best for their kids and are trying to influence them. I made my comments, but let them decide what to do, be it music, pot or whatever. They grew up knowing right from wrong and that is what matters the most. They are responsible for their own actions, and them only. Thanks, GaryT
