I want to get a child for my 6 year old German Shepherd. Where would be the best place to buy one and what kind of expenses am I looking at?

For clarification, I want a child for my dog not a puppy. Is it so stupid to want to make my dog happy? I will spare no expense.

Well, you want to get a child who is old enough to play with the dog, but not one so old he wants to go to friends houses all the time because that would defeat the purpose. I suggest a child of 7 or 8.
If you want your dog to learn commands in another language, particularly Spanish as it has become so common in recent years, than you may want to contact someone involved in the black market Mexican child trade. As I understand it, older children are not as desired north of the border, so they should be happy to fill your requests. Keep in mind that the child might not be Mexican and could, in fact, be from anywhere in Central or South America. He may also be fearful in his new environment, so give him lots of love and praise. Alternatively, there are many pleasant and well behaved older children in the US currently seeking homes, though you run the risk of the previous owner (or parent) wanting the child back. Contact your local adoption agency.
As far as expenses go, keep in mind that training a child takes many, many years and some children require financial support even after training is completed. Not only must you supply schooling, supplies, clothes and toys but physician visits can be quite frequent.

Well, buying a child is somewhat difficult. You are looking for one that isn't a brat, or your german shepherd won't like them. Also apart from initial cost, they complain about all kinds of things, like needing toys or clean clothes, or food. On going expense, but try the black market.

You might consider a remote control car instead. My border collie loves his.

I would suggest Canada. I know my dog just LOVES canadian bacon and I hear the natives smell a bit like that. They also seem fairly mellow and easy to train. It's always the worst when you get a new kid and they are hard to train and whine at your feet when you are eating a sandwich. I also hear that it is a fairly good exchange rate up there so you can be sure you are getting the most for you money.

Get one that was hand raised from a breeder - not one out of those pet shops (they never get enough attention and are usually neglected. Have you're dog go with you when selecting a child - so you can see how they get along and interact. Make sure not to get a child that's too big as it may intimidate your dog.

Do you mean " what kind of puppy to get for my dog?".. or are you truly wierd enuf to actually ask your question.Another probable variation of your question is " What dog do I get for my 6 yr old child?".
Anyway, if you are looking for a puppy , figure out how much space you have, what kind of budget you have and how friendly / dominating your german sheperd is.
For less expensive dogs, go to your local shelter.

Get one that's still small enough for your German Shepard to carry in in it's mouth!

Expenses? Last figure I heard was $250,000 from birth to age 18.

Better consider a 17 year old in their last year of highschool in that case. You can send them to SAT prep courses, make them get a part time job, buy them a car, get them to do chores around the house, send them to prom, go to their graduation, sign them up for student loans, and send them on their way!
They can come visit the dog anytime.
Where can you get a 17 year old? Go to the highschool, there's gotta be a parent willing to get rid of theirs for a really reasonable price!
Good luck! Hope it works out well for your dog!

Don't buy a child....get another dog. They are so much easier to take care and they don't talk back!

Don't do it! In ten years, the German Shepherd will be dead, and you'll be stuck taking care of the kid.
