go to www.gunbroker.com, it is an auction website and you can get some pretty good deals on firearms. You can't just buy one online unless you have an FFL license, but you can arrange the purchase through a local gunshop or pawn shop for a small fee.

.380 ACP is considered by many to be the minimum for a self-defense gun. I own a Bersa Thunder chambered in .380 and I think it's a neat little gun although not as well constructed as my Glock or Springfield.
It's not to be confused with .38 Special which is a revolver caliber, or the .38 ACP (aka .38 Super)

Pawn shops are great but make sure they have a good system that makes sure there not selling stolen property first ask for the seriel number before your purchase and find a way to run it to make sure your self. I bought my .380 browning and several of my other guns in pawn shops, its much better than paying full price.
