THE BEST THING YOU CAN DO IS TO TAKE IT OFF THE ENGINE AND TAKE IT TO A REBUILD SHOP BECAUSE UNLESS YOU HAVE DONE ALLOT OF THESE THEN YOU DON'T WANT TO TACKLE IT YOU WILL BE PULLING YOUR HAIR OUT BEFORE YOU ARE DONE

You would be best to take it to a carb shop. First of all make sure it is the carb. The carbs are not that easy to rebuild. You can always buy the carb kit and try it yourself. But a can of solvent is about $80.00, then $60.00 for the kit. Just pay $150.00 and get it done right. I had one in Oregon, I paid to have it done, then I paid to have to cleaned and the same place sold it for me for $5000.00. An '85 is 21 years old, there will always be little things going wrong.

The easiest way to rebuild a carb is to get a kit that is made for your carb. If not you have to fetch every piece for it.
