Who were the early Americans? Pilgrims. Why were they pilgrims? Because they left there home contry to aviod relgious persecution.

Religion was life to them. It gave them enough motovation to sail across an ocean to live in an unknown world.

Yeah, can you think of any other reason that a bunch of people from England would move to a place where there is nothing? Religious freedom from the church of England.
