what position are you in when u get a tattoo on your back shoulder? do you sit or lay?

Depends on the tattoo artist. You sit in a position that is comfortable for them to work on you in.

If it's on your shoulder they may have you lay down, but lower back they need the skin to be stretched tight so they will have you sit but lean over on something, like a pillow. It depends on where on your back you are having the tattoo, but generally they will have you sit up.

My artist used a "tattoo table" for my shoulder piece. It's basically like a padded bench. I was laying down, but I guess that all depends on the artist and what type of seating arrangements they have access to.

I assume you're referring to the shoulder blade area. If so, you usually lay down on your stomach, face down
