If you have already gotten the cold it's too late to prevent it. There is however a product called Zicam that is available OTC and it's realy does shorten the duration of a cold but in order to get the full benefits it must be used at the onset of a cold. Zicam is a little miracle. 3 sprays into the mouth. .Echinacea has never been clincally proven to do anything except be hard to spell. Although vitamin C is water-soluble, too much will give you diarrhea so don't overdo it.. Don't overdo the zinc, either.

Give yourself frequent oral care as most cold viruses along with bacteria are present in our mouths in great numbers at all times. If you can't reduce the effects of the cold, use the tried and true remedies - fluids, rest, Tylenol for fever, chicken soup.

If the virus is in your system you cannot prevent it but you can ease it. Drink plenty of water , take Zinc tablets and Vit. C. if you dont want to do it in tablet form then make sure you have plenty of fresh fruit and veg. Do not shut yourself away, fresh air is good for you.

To help prevent future colds maybe consider having a flu jab at the Doctors surgery if you have a lot of them. Also, this might sound funny, but I have got this tip from a nurse. Clean with antibacterial spray Loo handles, door handles and have your own towel in the bathroom. Wash hands regularly and thoroughly. Good luck!

It is said that no form of disease can live in an alkaline medium. You can prevent the cold coming on by getting your blood alkaline. How do you do this? Eat lots of alkaline foods. If you love watermelon eat lots of it. Greatly minimise your intake of acidic foods. Stay away from processed cheese and dairy products,
sweets and confectionery ( all processed foods). See link for food types.

It is said that an acidic body is a sickness magnet, so get your body alkaline and remain healthy. For the short term you can also take the 1000mg slow release vitamin C tablets and drink lots of water with a bit of lemon.

Note that though lemon is an acidic fruit it is alkaline forming when it gets into your body. Get well soon!

drink a lot of water and when you sleep, have a humidifyer near by, this will prevent your throat from becoming dry in the night which makes it a breeding ground for germs.

you can also try drinking a glass of hot green tea, and lye down under the covers. this will bring your body temperature up and you will sweat out most of the cold-causing germs.

Sorry but it just has to take its course. Maybe only a cold but can make you very ill. Lots of fluids and paracetamol if you have a fever. Don't waste money on any other medication because they work no better. I hope you feel beter soon.

I have tried Airborne and it does really work. You have to start taking it right away and follow the directions. You still might get a cold, but it will go away much quicker and be less severe.
