depends on what you are trying to achieve. not every language will work for what you are trying to do.

Generally though scripting languages like JavaScript and VbScript are the easiest to learn since they are stripped down versions of full blown languages.

Probably Basic. JavaScript used for web sites is a little like Basic and can be used to run programs on your web pages.

Once you learn them you can get into languages such as C which are event driven.

I read everywhere that Python is an easy and straightforward language to learn. I'm learning it now actually. I don't know if it's easy or not, because I haven't learned other languages and don't have anything to compare it to.

Easier means less marketability and BASIC is almost not marketable, not Visual Basic, I say BASIC, as in Quick BASIC in MS-DOS..

MS Access for desktop application is the easiest one.
VB.NET for web application
