No quick way, sorry. Jumping in bed with the nearest person is not the answer. Nor is the bottle!
What I did was write a letter to the ex. In it I wrote everything bad they had ever done (went out without you, gave you a rubbish birthday present...), their bad habits (pick nose, way they hold their knife, squeeze toothpaste from middle of tube...), and so on. Perhaps they always make the decisions about where you go, or you always have to do it! Perhaps your parents like them - so there must be something wrong with them. Perhaps your parents hate them, and your parents are always right! They left you, so they are an idiot. Or you left them, which you knew was the right thing to do.
Make sure there is nothing good in the letter. Do not send it to them. Keep it. Every time you regret the split-up, re-read the letter and add to it. Soon you will realise the split was for the best. But it will take time!
Good luck!

sort of - at least you can make the time seem to go faster. The key is work. It doesn't necessarily have to be paid work, if your job is boring and mindless you could have a project outside work but you need something that really absorbs you that you can dive into. The time goes fast then.
Whenever you are tempted to think about the person, do the Scarlett thing - I'll think about that tomorrow. Then get on with your work or whatever. You can use work like a drug if necessary and there is no hangover!
Another really helpful thing to get you through a bad day is routines. Visit www.flylady.net for some suggestions. A structured day can help you not to slide into sitting staring into space with your thoughts racing round in circles like rats in a trap.

Get away from the situation entirely - move away and start a new job elsewhere the easiest way.. allow yourself time to lament and think what if but at the same time know that if things were gonna work they would have at the time.
You need to grieve almost for the future you wished you would have had rather than the one you do but at the same time move on..
Not easy to get over someone but it DOES get easier with time - a cliche but so true - remind yourself that you will not always feel the way you do now.. in weak moments have a good cry and write how you are feeling.

Go to a gym... and beat the sh*t out of something. Put on gear and really yell at it and scream at all the things that made your ex BE your ex.
I hear that doing that will really let the 'hot steam' out of your sails.
I plan on doing that soon myself when I leave my guy.... I want to pour out my heart and soul into the drain to start my new life fresh. Good luck.
