this girl always IMs me and is like 'oh youre so *bleeping* gay' o want to warn her really badly because she warned me. but i cant get it to work!! can somebody help?

BLOCK her instead. Warning is temporary and actually very meaningless.

I agree with the above mentioned answers that Warning is useless. It's a tool that is more used for fun than acutally envoking a negative response to induce change.
But to actually answer your question, in the window that you c hat in, during the conversation, at the bottom should be a Warn button. Cick that and any subsequent confirmation messages and that should warn the person.

I don't think warning works anymore. Just block the person.

Just block'em and ignore them...I know you can do this with Yahoo! Messenger and I would assume AIM has a similar function.
