Exchequer? I have no idea what that is.
Reason 1- Smoking will kill you. Ever look at the warning on the back of your cigarette pack?
Reason 2- If other people want to endanger their own lives why should that determine what you do? I think it's stupid to base jump. Does that mean I should become an alcoholic because someone else risks their life?
Reason 3- Someone mountaineering doesn't affect me personally one ioda. That's their business. However, if you sit in a restaurant and foul the air that I have to breathe, now I've got a problem with you. Make sense?
Reason 4- If for no other reason, cigarettes are expensive. Quit smoking, contribute the saved money to your IRA, retire rich.

You should only stop smoking if you don't want to die a horrible death. This has nothing to do with anyone else. Governments may mandate non smoking but it is a personal decision which you may or may not find the most difficult of your life depending upon your addiction. As a medical professional I see people dying of all sorts of maladies and mostly it is the ones who know they could have prevented their suffering that seem the most lost. Once your lung reserves are used up by smoking you can seldom if ever repair them. You may get hit by a bus or fall off a cliff. But if you don't and the chances are with you that you will live to a ripe old age, it is up to you whether you live that life with self respect and dignity or gasp away your last days months and years trapped in a vortex of hospital rooms, infection, and trying to gulp air that is never enough like a landed fish. It is one of the few good choices you can make to help yourself out when you get old and chances are you will get old. Make your choice and stop deferring your life.

The person who is taking a risk doing a sport is only risking themselves YOU'RE NOT, you are risking the health of everyone around you. You don't live in a bubble you know. Their risk is only at the moment of the activity. You're risk keeps multiplying every time you smoke. They take precautions to minimize the risks of their sport - you are in fact multiplying your risk without any sport - logic would say STOP but then nothing is logical about putting smoke into your lungs that are meant for air.

Hi because when you are moitineering you dont die of a horrible pain full disease that you in the end are going to die from, and when you drive cars fast cars yo not smoking you are still healthy and it doesnt nesscersary kill you in the end unless you crash of cousre then die but if you dont you are fine. Tell you what why dont you read what it says now on all the cigarette packets, and then ask a person who has cancer from smoking then see what your answer to this question is.

Because they may want to achieve a goal other than you who smokes instead of doing something exciting like mountaineering or driving a fast car. and besides- why are you concerned about their life, your the one whos hurting yourself by not quiting. and you have a higher risk of dieing or getting sick because of smoking than doing other things like the stuff you mentioned in your question.
i think its stupid to smoke and if you want to live a life without sickness and wrinkles and your child haveing more of a chance to smoke because you do then so be it.

About half of all Americans who continue to smoke will die because of the habit. Each year, about 438,000 people die in the US from tobacco use. Nearly 1 of every 5 deaths is related to smoking. Cigarettes kill more Americans than alcohol, car accidents, suicide, AIDS, homicide, and illegal drugs combined.
You are letting yourself be addicted to poison. You also poison other people who would really rather have nothing to do with your habit. I personally have Asthma because my parents smoked and my mom smoked while she was pregnant.
Aside from health problems, cigarettes cost you a lot of money, dictate where and when you smoke, make you lethargic, they make you and your breath smell bad, can cause fires, cause you stress when you cannot get away to smoke, cost businesses a lot of productivity because of smoke breaks,
Humor me and read this article… http://www.cancer.org/docroot/PED/content/PED_10_2X_Cigarette_Smoking.asp?sitearea=PED

over time, smoking obstructs or narrows the small airways in the lungs and destroys the air sacs there. It clogs arteries and causes blood clots. That's why you should stop!! There are so many benefits like, No more coughing, More cash in your pocket, you will have more stamina, endurance, and confidence, you wont stink of smoke and the beast one you will be able to breathe better!!!

I don't care if you stop smoking or not. On the other hand, as an ex-smoker, I'm glad I stopped. Not because of anyone else but because it made me stink, get yellow teeth and fingers, cough, waste money and made me miserable when I craved nicotine. Carry on smoking if you want!

well it all depends, you could infact die faster in a car wreck but then again that was unforseen, if you smoke, you are foresighting into your futer death. take a pick, besides, wouldn't you want to kiss someone and not worry about how your breath smells every time, or how your clothes smell and having yellow teeth. i for one would never date a smoker. but everyone has their own life, do what you do and live your life to the fullest, it's up to you how long you want that life to be.
