I drive a 2002 Olds Alero. Sometime my turn signals do not work unless I push on my hazard lights first. After I do this for a few seconds and turn hazard off, the turn signals will work again. Can anyone tell me why this happens?

Both sides will quit working at the same time for awhile.

the turn signal switch that mounts in the steering column is going bad on it,,i own a repair shop and i have seen a few of them do like that,,it Willl eventually go out,,and the turn signals wont work at all on it,,it can be repaired by replacing the switch unit,,but you have to pull the steering wheel off to repair it,,it would be better to let someone do it that has the tools to do it with,,and the knowledge,,someone who has done it a few times can do it in a few hours,,and this wil take care of your problem,,we do it here at my shop all the time,,i hope this help,s,,good luck with it.

There is a recall for your vehicle, for that problem. The hazard switch will be replaced...no charge to you. See your Olds dealer

edit>>>I was mistaken, for the 1999-2001 it's a recall. For your 2002 it's a special policy #04098 that covers that condition for 10 yrs or 150K miles, starting from the date the vehicle was first put in service(delivered and registered) regardless of who owns it now. Take that special policy # and your Vin# and visit your dealer.

even as it occurs back. Get out of the vehicle to make certain which one is bliniing right now and which one isnt blinking in any respect. the only which isnt blinking is your problem. Take a llok on the wiring and if it type of feels fantastic then make sensible your connectors arent loose that connect to the mild bulb. in case you won't be able to fix the problem. Take it to a collision and fix keep and they must recognize what that's. They manage each and each of the electric powered and body paintings in knotted up automobiles.

Sounds like you have an electrical problem with the turn signal switch or wiring to and from the switch. If something worked loose you will have to have circuits tested.

you probably need a new hazard flasher switch. it contains the module that controls the t/signals also. see your friendly gm dealership as i don't believe you can get the switch in the aftermarket yet. the # is 10359040 $23.39 + installation. and yes there may be a recall on it. you would have to call dealer and give them your vin.

My guess is its a bad relay switch. The hazard light uses a different relay that relays all your signal lights.

My bf's car was recalled for this, but it is a Pontiac Grand Am. Maybe yours has the same issue- check recalls.

There's nothing wrong with the bulbs, else your hazards wouldn't work.

Check the flasher.
