Just be prepared to read a lot, read carefully, and don't take any of it too seriously. Know when to stop asking questions. Don't let it carry over into your personal life. My biggest problem with being a philosophy major was the other kids I had to share classrooms with.

I mostly found a philosophy major pretty easy, with the exception of a couple upper level seminar classes.. I never had a paper over 12 pages, most were 5-6, and only 2-3 of them a semester. It takes a little while to know how to write a good one, but I found it pretty rewarding.

It really depends on your professor. Most likely you will have reading assignments, reports and discussions just like any other course you will be taking. Personally, I found my philosophy class very interesting.

One thing to remember, Philosophy Majors are not paid well.

I took one class and loved it! The debate was intense and some made sense some didnt. Have an open mind, that's all I say. Because you'll be graded for your openness.
What kind of a job can a philosophy major get? Aren't we all philosophers!?

It's the best class in my opinion. I majored in it as well as minored in Religious Studies and Ethics.

You get to study the most popular Philosophers and their writings on GOD, Ethical Behavior, etc... You will write probably short papers most of the semester regarding YOUR thoughts on a particular Philosopher's writings on a subject. (Love, GOD, etc..).

It is totally up to the teacher which periods you study and which Philosophers. I was lucky and got to study some of the best. Plato, Aristotle, Kant, Kierkegaard, etc..

I also studied Logic for two semesters which helps you to think and organize your thoughts better.

I thought it was all fascinating, and I still read many modern day Philosophers today.
