I'm in a different age group.....
- Paint Your Wagon (my 1st drive-in movie experience that I
remember)
- The original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
- Any Disney Movie... Mary Poppins/Bambi/Cinderella/Snow
White & the 7.... etc.
- Where the Red Fern Grows (more in my 10-12yrs.)
- Many sci-fi B-rated movies... original War of the Worlds,
The Green Slime, The Incredible Shrinking Man, Trog, etc.
- The Yellow Rose of Texas (any John Wayne movie)
- Ben & the original Rat movie (can't remember name?)
- Nicholas & Alexandria / Dr. Zhivago
- Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
- Don't Eat the Daisies & many other Rock Hudson or Doris Day
Movies
- Herbie the Love Bug/ Shaggy Dog/ Benji
- Any Bible Movies esp. with Chuck Heston in it
- Shane... was a school project
(Many movies of my era & previous eras came on TV at noon or 1pm, alot were black & whites. Can't remember their names. When my siblings had to go to school, I stayed home & watched any & all movies with my mom. Unlike today, the networks never put anything NC-14/ R rated during the day hours, however the boundries were not as strict as today either, as many movies were of violent content, but they never showed the blood & gutts the way they do in todays movies, but there still was a lot of killing or death in the name of right vs. wrong.)

The movies you remember, I've also seen...just with different eyes an adult.

The first film my parents took me to see was Ben Hur - I was aged 4 ... and I loved it! Later, when I saw Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, I had nightmares!

I remember: Whistle Down the Wind (Hayley Mills), Mary Poppins - there didn't seem many at that time.

But, we'd go to Saturday morning matinees at ABC - 9d upstairs circle, 6d flea pit stalls. Badge that glowed in the dark. Flash Gordon, Zorro, The Lone Ranger, The Invisible Man... The song at the start every week went like this:

We are the boys and girls well known as
the minors of the ABC
And every saturday all line-up
to see the films we like to shout about with glee
We like to laugh and have a sing-song
Such a happy crowd are we
We're all friends together -
The minors of the ABC (shouts really loud)

:-) That's going back a few years, innit!!!

Wizard of Oz
The cruel sea
Gone with the Wind
Roy Rogers & Trigger - Saturday morning pictures

The documentary I will never ever forget seeing as long as I live was of the Nazi concentration camps after they had been liberated after ww 2 was over.

All of us children of school age in the UK were taken by our respective schools to see this. We did not have a choice and neither did our parents we had to go. It was so awful.

Perhaps I ought not have mentioned this forgive me please.

I am so pleased that the films you watched in your childhood were happy and full of fun. That's how it should be.

Happy days!
