I'm restoring a 1976 Cutlass with a 350 Rocket 4 barrel engine. I want to replace to the missing decal on the air cleaner. Did Olds use the word "Rocket" on its 350 air cleaner decals or did all 350 engines just have "Oldsmobile 350" on the air cleaner decals regardless of what type of 350 it was?

I have held Oldsmobile in the highest regard since I was a teen. I have kept repair manuals on models that I have owed and I can not see Rocket on the aircleaner of the later models past 1960. I will give you a phone number: 641-932-5172 this is Duea Motors in Albia, IA. the have a book in their show room that shows many of the models of Oldsmobile going back many year. I have look through it while waiting for my oil to be changed but I usually liked to just look at the models I have owned. We had a '76 sitting up at the farm and I can not remember the Rocket on the air cleaner. Many parts were removed from it over the years and finally it was pushed into a pit and buried. I had a 1954 Olds Convertible, and 2 1956 Olds 4 door hard tops. One I put a standard transmission in, '56 was the first year of the Jet-Away transmission. The thinking was that you would not be able to feel it shift. It was very smooth compared to the hydromatic in the '54. The '54 had actual leather seats. Mine were red with a black exterior and white rag top. The service personel are friendly at Deua. You can generally talk to the service manager and he will help you. I hope I helped you. I am getting up there and I like to ramble at times.

To my understanding, no. I have a 1975 Cutlass Supreme and all it said was "Oldsmobile 350". I believe they stopped using the word Rocket in 1974.

I BELIEVE THAT IT WAS STAMPED AND THEN UNDERNEATH IT IT SAID FOUR BARREL, BUT THE BEST WAY TO FIND OUT IS TO GO TO YEAR ONE OR TO HEMMINGS MOTOR NEWS AND ASK ONE OF THOSE WILL KNOW FOR SURE.
