How can I get pictures on my website to appear when people search under images?

Say if I had pictures of poodles on my web page. Whats A good way to make sure people will see them when they image search for poodles?

search enginges like google and yahoo have this thing called "robot". that robot searches the web for new websites and images, etc.. and the new stuff that robot finds, it stores it in google or yahoo or whatever. it stores it by the image name, so if you type the image name in the search engine, you'll find your picture.

1. You will have to include the pictures on some web pages (for the search engines to find).

2. Always try to name your pictures to something relevant for the content. Like costa-rica-flag.jpg if you have a picture of a flag.

3. Make sure you enter relevant information in the alt tag for the picture. The alt tag is what is shown if the picture can't be seen and the text is also shown before/while the picture is shown. Finally the alt tag is used for people who can't see the picture (only read the text, brail or hear the text, text-to-voice).


By visiting a website like the one below and right clicking on a picture can you read the alt tag and see the filename.

Yes, you have to submite your site to search engines . . . it's free (takes a bit longer to index than if you pay) and eventually they will index them, but you have to name your picture files other than the default (i.e. DSF00101) nobody will search for a name like that. Name your picture files something searcheable like; your names, the event, nick names or however you wish to be found.

You have to submit your pages to the search engines. ..
Then spiders as they crawl the web will find your pages if they are indexed by a search engine.
