I cannot wait to be able to answer someone else's questions instead of always me being the one with questions!!! Maybe one day!! (It will be a long, long time though!) Thanks everyone for all your help!

you can't i'm afraid.

to contact someone via the internet you (and they) need to be using either an instant messenger, email, guestbook, chatroom or something similar.

just having their computer's ip address does not really have much use, this is because nearly everybody's ip address changes every so often.

aside from what i have said above, there is *sort* of a way of doing it, but it's slightly technical with very little chance of the message getting through. it is the 'net send' command in dos, as discussed here:

Depends. They may have a web site or a web server that you contact with an IP address using your web browser. They may have a computer that's accessible using Windows Remote Desktop. It all depends.
