There's many things you can do.

First, try and update your modem drivers. You will have to find out what modem you have and goto the company's website.

Second, you want to make the phone cord from the computer to the jack as short as possible.

Third, do you hear any noise on your phone when you are making a voice call? if you do, you should call the phone companies repair department and tell them you're hearing noise.

Those are the most crucial items.

It happens due to 3 reasons:

1: If their is noise in your Phone line
2: Or the cable which you connects with your modem is damage.
3: You modem doesn't work properly.

Check the line connection, getting a line filter helps like this

This is designed for dsl but it helps with dsl.

This may sound silly but it's happened to me. Check your phone line because that might be the cause of your problems. Does it crack when you are the phone or make any other noises?
