How do I activate Messenger archives to save record of conversations?

In Windows Live Messenger, select: Tools > Option > Messages - and tick the box 'Automatically keep a history of my conversations'.

Go to tools, options, messages, and under message history near the bottom there is a box that you tick so that conversations are automatically saved, hope this helps

On your initial Messenger panel click 'Tools'. On the drop down menu click 'Options'. On the next menu click 'Messages'. Then finally tick the 'Automatically keep history of my messages' box.
