That was by far the best game Italy played. Both teams played hard and you don't hear the Germans whining about their loss.

You're right, Mother Goose - that was by far the best game of the entire World Cup. And I was enjoying it sooooo much :)
Germans know what the real football is, they never whine when they lose. They were always hard to brake.

Yes, I totally agree with you. It was the most exciting match, also one that included plenty of action and suspense! Honestly, the final match was pretty uneventful compared to Germany vs. Italy. They basically dribbled the ball along, waiting for the penalty shoot-out. On the other hand, in the semifinal, both teams had strong tactics, and it was especially great to see fantastic moves from the players! Also, the German fans actually didn't complain much about the results (on Yahoo! Answers, at least), and they didn't go insulting the Italian fans and calling names.

No, the true final should have been Germany vs France. Germany vs Italy, that was a terrible game, where Italy got lucky in the last two minutes after being dominated the entire match by Germany, and the referee "missing" some calls that would have gone in Germany's favour. Same thing happened in the final...France dominated the entire match, then it went to a penalty shootout and France just had terrible luck. Italy should have been out in the first round against Australia. And obviously, you haven't talked to many German fans, because all the ones I've talked to have told me they feel they were cheated by Italy, and it's not "whining".
And Portugal played better than Germany?! Yeah, right...that's why Germany beat them 3-1! And Portugal's goal, that was in the 88th minute, when Germany knew they had already won and didn't care if it went in.

I agree in the fact that that was the best game of the cup, even when there were very good games (Mexico-Argentina), but I think that Argentina should have won to Germany and competed against Italy. That would have been an extraordinary game.

I've always believed that the finals should of been Italy vs Germany, that was an awesome game played with class and skills by both teams. You have to remember that Germans are people with class so you wouldn't hear them whine!

that was a return match : in 1990 where WC was in Italy won Germany and in 2006 where was in Germany won Italy... perfect balance!
