I think Mike Brown was the fall guy for the administration, but it seems like they expected him to go quietly and to take the blame and for no one to be believe him that he is automatically discredited by the situation. Just like people who speak against the official story of 9-11.

In my opinion Mike Brown played it smart by waiting a few months and allowing FEMA to go about business and standing by quietly waiting for the hearing on the matter. By taking that action he is not viewed as been vindictive.

He craft his argument using two trump cards (first) WE WERE NOT PREPARED FOR KATRINA we just got back the report on the simulation and had taken no measure on it (second trump card) KATRINA WAS NOT TAKEN SERIOUSLY BY THE POWERS TO BE, siting the schedules of the president being at the Ranch and going out to California and the Director of Homeland Security being in Georgia for a bird flu meeting.

Mike Brown, say look at my experience I know how to manage crisis and until FEMA had to start reporting to Homeland Security I had the power to do my job, they took away my power and they were not taking it seriously!

I THINK MIKE BROWN IS HANDLING THIS BRILLIANTLY~ nobody is calling him a liar or trying to discredit him.

One of the best ways to get rid of an incompetent political appointee is to do exactly what he says and don't try to correct his mistakes. I sincerely believe that Mike Brown made so many enemies among the FEMA veterans that this is what happened--they hung him out to dry.

It cost lives. The veteran FEMA employees knew that supplies were going to have to be in New Orleans and where, but Mike Brown either did not listen or they didn't tell him. The initial warnings that went unheeded, the supply problems, everything indicates there were deep-seated communication problems between the political appointees (Brown being one of them) and the career disaster relief employees.

It is no wonder that so many career employees quickly retired after Katrina. Although an investigation would probably have shown that all they did was follow the orders they were given, the truth is they knew better.

In short, Mike Brown is not entirely to blame.

Well the disaster that Katrina was could have been eased if not for someone appointing someone in a position that they are not qualified to handle. I think we all know who I am talking about.

I originally thought that he was the problem.
But I've since learned that the problem was much more endemic to the entire administration.

I believe his story. It can't all be one persons fault. I think we need to vote accordingly in the next election.
