My husband is out of town until Friday with a sick parent. My daughter is not taking having daddy gone very well, so I've decided she and I should work on a surprise for him over the next few days- We're going to get up early Friday and fix him his favorite supper and make a "Welcome Home Daddy" banner for the living room. Any other ideas on what we can do together to pass time?

What do your daughter and husband like to do together? Soccer? Baseball? Board games? The zoo?

Monopoly junior is also a good game to play with young children.

Im sure he'd love that. If you guys have enough spare time until he comes home, maybe you could put a scarpbook together of you and the family. Sometimes men dont really appreciate those things haha, but it would be a great idea for you and your daughter to do together.

Do not be surprised if he does not return the same level of excitement as you are trying to impart. Remember that traveling is tiring and he's been dealing with family illness. That's not a recipe for exuberance. Give him a little time to decompress after he walks in if he wants it.

How old is your daughter? Maybe you can get a copy of his favorite song and get her to learn it so she can sing it to him when he gets home. Have her make a couple drawings a day of things the two of you did so he can get to see what you did while he was gone.

Thats the sweetest thing eva. Why don't you tell her to make a card for every day that he is gone and to write down what she did that day, how much she missed him and what all she felt.
