I took the GRE in the spring and aced it. It's a test you need to take to get into graduate school. You take it on the computer rather than with pencil and paper. The computer makes the questions harder when you get questions right and easier when you get them wrong. As you answer questions, the computer determines your approximate ability level in reading (Verbal) and math (Quantitative). There are also two analytical writing sections which are scored by real people.

I used The Princeton Review guide, which was a very good resource. For the reading, you need to study vocabulary words! It's a lot of occult words that most people won't recognize. The guide I mentioned lists a "hit parade" of some 300 vocabulary words that frequently show up on the GRE (I know I saw many of them as I took the test). The guide also has a section to review your math skills and to give strategies for the writing section. Definitely get the guide and start studying AT LEAST four weeks before the test. Good luck!

The GRE® General Test measures verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking, and analytical writing skills that have been acquired over a long period of time and that are not related to any specific field of study. The GRE® Subject Tests gauge undergraduate achievement in eight specific fields of study.
