ok so give me more details. Give me reasons to stay with Norton and not change to McAfee or AVG. Wat makes Norton so good beside customer service? Does it really protect my pc?

Another, ok so the software subscribtion expires in January (which is not soon like I said before) but by this time Windows Live OneCare would be out, right? So y should i not change to Windows Live OneCare. It sounds pretty good thing and if its like www.winsupersite.com said, then its really good. Y should i not change?

Well it does not block anything, it is one of the main ones that has a spam filter, but of course at the company I work for they still get hundreds of spam emails a day! So I would not go with it, check into AVG or NOD32 Those are good ones, Check ratings.

norton is great.norton offers best customer service. And no antivirus programme is 100% effective. And McAfee is a total SUCKER. i HATE IT its worst than everything. it doesnt do a 0shit except waste all the time by scanning unwantedly unnecessaryly.

NORTON is good BUT if ur changing ur AV program try Avast home or professional it has a very high protective sheild,I am very comfortable with it. (the not much of difference between avast home and the professional. The differences are only in sound scheme) YOU can find the serial for it freely. if u cant , then ask me, I have a five year subscription serial.

But belive me Norton is not a piece of crap. Its a great AntiVirus Program.

For using the Internet there is absolutely nothing better than using a "Live CD". A Live CD is a complete operating system that boots from your CD-ROM drive and keeps your hard drives in "read only" mode so nothing can infect them. In fact you do not even need a hard drive in your computer!

You may become infected during your browsing, however once you reboot you are clean as new!

An ABSOLUTE MUST WHEN DOING ON-LINE BANKING! and SHOPPING!

Read this blog, it tells the story in more detail:
http://millionfirefoxconverts.blogspot.com/

Oh Yea ... THEY ARE FREE! WOO-HOO!

OK, back to the Norton question. Yes all personal firewall security is pretty much useless. The Guardian has a recent article where 6 firewalls were tested and they all failed!!!! (see link below).

I still use one, but I am not willing to pay for it. I use Comodo firewall and anti-virus. They are both free and seem to work well. (link below).

Since that Guardian article I took an old PC and installed Ubuntu Linux on it and set it up as the family's router. The attacks we were receiving were enormous! It took a few days of fiddling to get the wireless network going, VOIP phone, Secure Gmail, Internet radio and the rest all working happily but it is great.

As an added bonus I now have unlimited on-line storage and web sites. That Ubuntu is AWESOME!

I agree with dirty n. That's bull about it conflicting with programs. Sometimes, when you're in a program, it'll pop to do an automatic scan, but you have the option of shutting it down. There are different levels of spam protection, from none to the whole enchilada, if you're willing to spend the extra bucks.

I work for a large company, and we ditched norton about three years ago. It's very intrusive and prone to problems, not to mention it's rather expensive.

Check out NOD32 antivirus from ESET (www.nod32.com). It's inexpensive, VERY stable, and VERY fast. It'll also detect spyware/malware.

among other things, it has extensive file extension probes into you system (in the realtime) and this really boogers up the works; another, it's very hard to configure for allowing some app's, hardware, other security apps, to run causing crashes or bring the whole kitten kaboodle down. advise getting 'avast!'.....free, liteweight, clean, simple gui, etc.
