Being alone! I never thought I would be one that would have any difficulty dealing with old age, but I was wrong. The past four months have been extremely difficult. As family members died off and knowing that Alzheimer's is prevalent on the maternal side of our family I have concerns. The other day a friend forwarded an Internet post from a man that was 84 two years ago and decided to leave the California retirement village and come to the Philippines. I learned from this post that perhaps life at any age can be great if we make an adventure of it. I am working on it.

I'm 49, so in a sense I'm already old. Oddly enough, you don't feel "old" at this age, you just have different perspectives on life. Among the things I fear about getting older are: having regrets about anything, whether the money I put into social security will still be there when I retire, and how will I get by when I'm too old to take care of myself. I don't have any kids. Plus, I need to save more for my retirement. Life always has its problems, but I'm sure it will all work out.

Huh? HUH? Did you say something? My hearing aid needs a new battery! Come closer, i can't see you too well. I need my glasses, can you hand them to me? Can you do me a favor and hand me my cane, and that glass of water there. I need to put my dentures in. Also, my depends are leaking. Can you please take me to the store so i can buy some more depends? OH, I gotta go get a refill of my heart medication, and my diabetes test strips and also, i have to schedule my next chemo treatment. Damn! My retirement check came, and i'm on such a measly fixed income, i can't afford to pay my power bill this summer. I need to get an extension.

because of the fact it is YOUR day. for many, its the only day that they have is theirs and theirs on my own. They get to have a social gathering the place human beings rejoice their existence. they are no longer celebrating starting to be older except they seem to be a baby.
