Don't know where you heard that. We have two children, both diagnosed as ADHD and are still married after 27 years!!!
If somone is using that for an excuse to get a divorce, the marriage wasn't very strong to begin with. Besides, the child with ADHD is still going to be their child. Divorce doesn't end that

Sounds like nothing more than a cruel statement someone would use to make a child feel bad. Definitely a myth. If the parents love each other enough to try they can make it through anything. Plus, I think ADHD is often misdiagnosed. Some kids are just obstinant.

Strictly myth. Parents get divorced because of their problems, not the child's. A child is NEVER to blame in any divorce.

That sounds like a very mean, immature statement a parent would make who is too selfish to accept the blame.
ADHD isn't even that bad of a thing, people with ADHD just learn differently than the standard boring lectures given at most schools. But if you look it up, you'll find things like the president of Jet Blue has ADHD, and he often refuses to take his medications when he has to come up with new ideas, because he feels smarter and more creative without them.

Having children destroys alot of marriage, adhd or not. It changes EVERYTHING and often it changes things in to something other than what one of the parents wants their lives to be. A child with issues, especially behavior and discipline issues is tough to live with and tough to put up with, you come home from work hoping to relax and walk in to chaos and noise, I'm sure that doesn't work for a lot of people and I'm sure that if women didn't feel that walking away wasnt' an option for them they would choose to bail on it too. That doesnt make it ok, its a lame and weak and selfish thing to do but men don't tend to feel that the child is just as much their responsibility as the mothers.

A myth. My oldest child was diagnosed with ADHD and we are still together after 19 years. He has outgrown it. He deals with the difference it makes in him. He has to struggle more at school.

It is a myth. It is hard to raise a child with ADHD I would think but a strong marriage can conquer anything.

it's a fact that many parents get divorced because they are bad parents and they are not supportive of each other or their children. any parent that would blame their child for the divorce is a scum-sucking loser with less maturity than a mayfly, and any doctor or statistician trying to say that's a fact is just trying to sell more drugs.
