I'm spending one day only in Bristol
What do you suggest doing?

Since it's one day only I don't want to spend the whole day in a museum / gallery, I'd like to get around a bit but at the same time would rather select 2/3 places to visit rather than wonder aimlessly!

One day? The SS Great Britain is unique and worth visiting; it won't take too long and you can see the rest of the historic docks area while you are there. There used to be a little glass-blowing place right next door; if it's still there, that's worth a quick look - again, Bristol Blue Glass is a unique thing, but a visit to the main 'factory' may take too long.

@ Bristol is close by, and worth visiting - they have an Imax cinema there as well (and plenty of pubs)!

The zoo is a good one, but you only have a day, and there are zoos everywhere! However, there is only one Clifton Suspension Bridge, so you have to have a quick look at that - unfortunately, it has been spoilt slightly by all the fencing to stop people jumping off it.

The buses aren't brilliant, but I believe an all-day City Rover pass (or whatever it's called now) is £7.

go to the harbour to see the SS great britain and the mathew, two great british ships. while your there go to @bristol, a very interesting place. near the train station, bristol temple meads, is the empire and commonwealth museum, a very interesting place. bristol is brunel's city (isambard kingdom brunel that is!) so it is such an interesting place. if bristol isn't enough, bath is only 10 min away by train :)

happy visiting

The Clifton suspension bridge is iimpressive and has lovely views. Check out my panoramic photo of it here: http://www.360travelguide.com/idisp.asp?iCode=brs0a

Also the SS Great Britain is impressive - an iron hulled passenger ship also built by Brunel.
