I lived in Avondale in 1999, it wasn't a "great" neighborhood then, but it has since moved "up" with new structures, new shopping, new buildings, and I'm sure new apartments.

We lived: LEGACY APARTMENTS
1408 N CENTRAL AVE
623-932-4830

They were nice. No loud music, no crime that we heard of. There were MUCH worse a mile or two down the road. We had a two bedroom upstairs/downstairs, they were HUGE. We ended up moving to Phx into a house for rent. Call and see what you find. Maybe something on the internet? Plus they were centrally located and in the "nicer" part of Avondale.

And watch the "Avenues" as the poster above said, you need to be on the SOUTH side, not the north side of 75th Avenue, and stay away from Indian School Road and 75th Ave!!!!!!!!!!!

You might try Berridge Villa Apts. - they are at 19th Avenue, near the I-17. The physical address is 2040 W. Berridge Lane. I paid $600 a month which included all utilities and cable TV. The apartments are a little small, but clean. And the guy that owns it, Joe Oliverio, was very nice and fair. This was a few years ago, so maybe the rent is a little higher now. The neighborhood had some crime (my car had it's wheels stolen), but not a really dangerous area of the city. It's located near one of the city's main hospitals, so it's a pretty safe and busy area during the daytime.

If I were you, I'd go down McDowell and find an apartment on the South side of McDowell between 75Th Ave and 59Th Ave, there are some decent ones along there for $600-$700 per month or so.

I used to live at 7077 West McDowell at Sun Point apartments, and loved it :)

Avondale is not a real good neighborhood!
