Whatever Happened to the Ultima Weapon in Final Fantasy games?

After FF9, the Ultima weapon was (changed) to Cadablalog on FFX.

yea, it changed... but the only true ultima weapon was in FFVI. although, what the heck is the name of the last monster in secret of mana? was that some type of ultima weapon? it was the earth spirit that would destroy the world to cleanse it, so that sounds like a weapon to me
