Its easy. Straight people are straight and not exciting, which by the way is not as true as you think, however, that is the portrayal and general feeling. Straight people burn at a slow rate.
Villains are people and they are not villains in their circle. Some think of themselves as Robin Hoods, and they are portrayed as sexy and cool in the media. Villains burn at a fast rate. They can be intoxicating.

Only because their lives are so out of the ordinary, which makes them appear somewhat more exiting and mysterious.
