"I remember the year I went to camp
I heard about some lady named Selma and some blacks
Somebody put their fingers in the President's ears
It wasn't too much later they came out with Johnson's wax
I remember the book depository where they crowned the king of Cuba
Now that's all I can think of, but I'm sure there's something else
Way down inside me I can feel it coming back

Songs can lead you to think about things, but they are not always literally true. From the lyrics, it sounds like this song is about a child who was confused by all the news during the early 1960s. Cuba never had a king other than the king of Spain. Cuba became independent in 1898 after the Spanish-American war.

No king of Cuba. When Cuba was a colony of Spain, then their rulers for 400 years were kings.

Not really. But when Cuba was still a Spanish possession, it was ruled by a "governor" who nonetheless had king-like powers over Cuba. However, his title was never officially "king."
