I would be prepared. Some teachers like to start on the very first day with their lessons. Make sure you have a notebook and a pen or pencil to take notes. You will most likely get a lot of handouts and information to bring home to your parents. So it's up to you if you want something to carry all that stuff in. Most students come with backpacks the first day for these reasons. Suggestion, bring one with you. If you feel that you don't need to carry it around all day you can leave it in your locker. But don't forget your lock especially if your school does not provide them for you.

most of the time, the first day is pretty light, just bring a folder or a tablet to write on, some paper, and something to write with. i hated backpacks when i was in school, so i tried not to bring one as much as possible.

Yes. At my school the teachers got right to business on the first day. Make sure to bring all your supplies too, like notebooks and binders, pencils, and anything else you'll need

im high school school and we dont for the first day. i usually just bring my purse with my pens and pencils and then i folder with some paper because they always give you things to being home and fill out. then you have to have your parents sign it and bring it back it. so bringing a folder is just an easy way to be organized the first day of school for me.

Just bring a shopping bag and stuff it under your shirt. That way if you have anything to carry, just whip it out. LOL.

unless you want to carry everything in your arms, which i doubt you can...take your backpack

you don't have to but i have found it helpful if you are taking alot of big binders to stay organized. That way you don't have to carry them in.
