I realised just how many aliens are living amongst us. Cats, dogs, bees, mosquitoes. They're all aliens.
Here we are, with our radio telescopes trained to the outer reaches of the universe, and sending robots to various planets to search for signs of life, when we haven't even explored our own planet fully! What's up with that?!
Just sit quietly for a while and watch an insect or a cat or a bird, or contemplate a tree or a blade of grass, and concentrate on the fact that it's just so *weird* looking...so alien. They evolved the same as us humans.
If we're so damned smart, why aren't we channeling resources to learn how to communicate with our native aliens instead of searching for something in outer space?

Hi there, Linty!
I would say that I've learned that I'm much more intelligent than I've ever given myself credit for, and I don't mean for that to come across in an egotistical way at all. I've just always been very unsure of myself, and never felt very smart. I'm finding with age, that although I'm far from the brightest apple on the tree, I'm not all that stupid after all. ;)
As for my insight into life, well, I think I've most learned that it's all about self-exploration and finding our own purpose in this life, that ultimately leads to our own happiness. I want to believe that anyway. :)

What i learned about myself is mainly that i do have a short temper, which needs lots of controlling. Secondly, the fact that if i disagree with something doesn't nessecarily prevent me from entertaining the opposing thought, or exploring the varied options, but i need to learn to stay calm enough to reason logically without shutting down pathways for new avenues of thoughts/ opinions.
Basically that means, be sane.
About life, i learnt that i am capable of breaking through my limits .....just needed an unselfish reason to do so all this while......i truly realize now that to give is to receive....
...and also a confirmation of what i always knew all along, that life is frikkin unpredictable. :-)

Every time I take another college class, it freaks me out about how much I DON"T know. So, each time it's a bit more eye-opening about the world "out there" Just when I think that I'm pretty darn smart and nothing will surprise me, WHAM I get hit with another philosophy or another way of looking at things (including myself) I think the best thing I've learned is that my definition of what "normal" is may be too narrow and that I need to keep my mind more open.

Everything I have experienced in life had led me to the book The Power of Now. I went from totally unhappy to extraordinarily being at peace.
The message of living in the now and not letting my mind control me was priceless. Even though I know everything happens at the right time I still wish I had learnt it sooner. I immediately got it. I have lived in peace every since.
I have learned to accept all things and all situations, I can't overstate what a difference this has made. I went from death to being gloriously alive.
I wish inner peace to all. Its closer than we think.

I do every moment...
every moment is a discovery...its just how receptive and "aware" we are of the moment that leads to insights!
paradoxically...my insights come in the form of questions...and not as answers...
the more I search..the more I'm lost!

Yes, i've decided that I don't want to sit in front of a computer all day, so this fall I will be switching careers to become a teacher. I'm looking forward to teaching and to having summers off. =)
