I think it was a bit extreme to go as far as they did provided the outcome. Could they not have considered testing DNA before they spent a fortune flying him, pampering him, and listening to his less than realistic details. The guy was a fruit.

He is very definitely a "fruit," but Boulder would have to be CRAZY, too, to want to use Karr to stir up publicity. What city would want that kind of publicity?

I can understand the DNA issue. First he had to agree to it, and he only did at one point and that was at a time when there was no one around with the proper DNA retrieval kit. They couldn't afford to screw up getting the DNA. They would have totally ruined their case.

I'm not saying the DA couldn't have done some things differently, but they were between a rock and a hard place in how to deal with him.

It's very sad for all concerned.

They could have arrested him on the warrant in Ca. first and then collected DNA, but in another rush to judgment the authorities botched another investigation by over anxious investigators.

I agree, but what if he was guilty and they didnt pursue him as much? I think this guy is sick for admitting he did it, when he didnt. He should be indicted on obstruction of justice and lying to authorites for what he did.

I have no idea why they did this. They spent tons of money for virtually nothing. Their case is still unsolved.
