I've used a product called Goo Gone. It's good for lots of sticky stuff.

35 yrs. in floorcovering. A first.

There are solvents to remove adhesives and even contact cement, safely, from carpet.
Check with a floorcovering store and maybe thay will sell it to you. It should work.

Do not rub carpet pile. BLOT only.

Depends is it color fast? lestoil or some pine cleaners check in a hidden area first good luck

I use Lava Soap for hands and clothes, might work for carpet too.
