I can do a large room quickly. I remove everything that doesn't belong in there (using the "touch it once rule" which is don't move it to another room, put it where it belongs or pitch it). Then I do all the furniture polish, glass cleaning, Lysol cleaning and lastly the floor.

For lots of great ideas, go to www.flylady.net.
However, to get started quickly, I'd suggest making a detailed list of everything you can see that needs to be done. Then work on one item until it's done, then go onto another thing. A messy room can be overwhelming, but certainly you can do one thing for a few minutes, can't you? For instance, your list might look like this:
1. Put laundry in laundry basket.
2. Hang up/put away clean clothes.
3. Put away CD's / DVD's.
4. Put dishes, etc. in the dishwasher.
and so on.
You don't have to do it in order, just pick one - do it, then pick another.
To keep your mind on what you're doing, set a timer for no more than 15 minutes. If you get distracted, the timer will eventually ring and remind you of what you're supposed to be doing.
If you find that you have too many clothes for your closet and drawer, or too many CD's, etc., then it's time to do some purging. Get 3 bins, boxes or baskets. Label the first one "Keep", the second one "Give away", and the third one "Throw away". Then start sorting. Anything you haven't used in the past year should go into bin 2 or 3. Keep only what you use.
Other helpful labels:
File - Shred - Recycle (for paper)
Past - Present - Future (get rid of past, store or get rid of future but get it out of the way)
Use - Rarely Use - Never use
Make up your own. It will work even better. Good Luck!

Take all the dirty clothes out to the laundry room. Vacuum, dust, make the bed. While the clothes are washing make three piles: 1.Things to put away 2. Things to throw away 3. Things to give away. Then do it! Do this everyweek on the same day, and do not ever skip a week. You will soon be cleaning your room in 30 minutes. You must do wash more than once a week to keep up, or you will be over run with dirty clothes. If you have not worn something in over a year, get rid of it.

Start with the shelves in ur room, take everything off and throw away what u don't need. Wipe off the dust on the shelves, then, organize everything neatly on the shelves. If there's stuff u need but don't want displayed, put it in ur drawer. If ur floor is a mess, then clean up whatever is there, and toss whatever stray papers are laying around. or, save the papers for later (u might need them) When I need a cleanup in 2 hours maximum time, becuase a person is coming over, I put a LOT of stuff in my drawers, hoping noone looks there, lol. If u need to clean out ur drawers....I can't give u a very helpful answer to that, but I suggest you throw away some stuff, or at least store it in a box ...in ur closet... thnx for the points!!

Sounds like more storage of some sort might help, if everything has a place it doesn't take long. It's the trying to figure out where to put everything that takes so long. If you can't get anything right away look around the house for things to use such as shoe boxes, milk crates, any kind of box or container...coffee cans, chip cans etc. you can always decorate them with wrapping paper, comics from the newpaper, contact paper, posters, stickers, and so on. Hang things from your ceiling, in your closet...use a hanger to hang purses, belts, scarves, whatever. Use your imagination, you can come up with all kinds of ideas.
Hope this helps.

Give it one good cleaning. Dust and wipe everything off, clean the sheets, go through your closet. This might take you a little while. After doing all that you'll realize how much better it looks and be proud of yourself for making it look so good then hopefully you won't be as messy. The quickest way to clean is clean as you go(once you gave it one good cleaning).

Are you talking about just your bedroom?
Here's the deal:
Turn on your favorite music. Pump it up loud. Boogie to the sound all around your room.
Give yourself 30 minutes to be done.
Start picking up all the stuff on the floor and putting it away.
Make piles for laundry, throw away, give away & put the rest away.
Make your bed real nice & neat.
Vacuum the floor, dust the tops of your desk, dresser, nightstands.
Windex your mirror, windows, lamps.
You're done!

Pick up daily, helps. Simply by hanging up clothes, (laid out and never worn), taking diry laundry out, dirty dishes back to kitchen, do these things on a daily basis. When time to clean, you won't have a mountain to go through, and can just dust, vacuum, clean glass surfaces..There you are done!!

Take responsibility of your own room and clean it. Then maybe after laboring the entire day, you'll learn to keep it neat.
