Well it depends on the situation that person was in and how much pain they wanted too endure or not endure. People who committ suicide feel as if there is no one out there for them and they tend to have feelings of great lonliness. They reach a point where they feel like no one cares and that they can't turn to anyone. Someone who does it quickly means they really gave up on themselves. Someone who does it slowly still has an inkling of hope that perhaps someone will find them and save them from completing the act. Its a cry for help. If you know of someone who is contemplating suicide it might be a good idea to refer them to a psychologist or a counselor so they can seek some help.

Maybe it shows whether they were determined to end their life or whether they had some trace of hope that they'd be found, rescued and helped with their problem.

People who shoot themselves in the head don't seem to have any hope left, while maybe some of those who take pills have some hope.

But it probably also has to do with how painful the method is and what is an "easy" way to kill themselves. Many people are afraid of killing themselves, too afraid to pull the trigger for example, while swallowing pills may seem easier to them.

Let's not forget that people who contemplate suicide are seriously ill mentally and while they are in this state of mind they can't think rationally, all they can think about is how to end all this pain. Suicidal people need help. They can be cured of their illness if they seek help or are brought into the hands of medical professionals.

hmmm, it could mean nothing more than the avaliable devices at the time... there could be much more literal interpretations, but having attempted suicide myself, i didnt think about the method, only what was avaliable, and looking back i cant make any connections between the method and meaning
