I am going to Egypt in October and I am wondering whether to get my visa on arrival in Egypt or send for one here to the consulate, although I dont really want to send my passport through the post so close to the holiday in case it gets lost . What if any are the disadvantages of getting one on arrival, are there long waits ect any advice welcome.

I have just returned from Egypt.

At Luxor airport before passing through passport control there a a few small bank kiosks.

These sell the Visas. No forms, No waiting. It is a stamp (Like a postage stamp) that they stick in your passport.

The cost at the embassy is £15. At the airport it is £10.

No hassle, Egyptian price. (You'll get used to that)

Do it at the airport it is easier, cheaper and quicker.)

I felt the same way hen I went in March this year - it costs a few ENglish pounds at the arrival Airport in Egypt - they like English pounds - and is as simple as buying a ticket - they also use English money a lot - in March £1 = about ten Egyptian - be prepared to haggle a lot - they love it - make sure you confirm its English or Egyptian pounds your haggling in Good Luck

You are More than welcome to visit Egypt, the touristic Visa can easily be optained from the airport if you dont have any criminal records. you just come her and pay the Visa fees and they give it to you
