Closest thing I have seen that the average Joe can do without a dealer license, is by direct from the factory ordering system, you save over any added fees that your dealer marks up the vehicle and you have the factory do what is called a courtesy delivery. They don't like you to know this information, because you can save thousands.
Example: go to local Dodge dealer look at car you want, see the price asked. Then go to www.dodge.com and select Build your next vehicle. Build the new 2007 Dodge Challenger you have your heart set on, and compare the price it should be from $1200.00 TO $4500.00 CHEAPER.
Maybe more if this was a new diesel truck. Usually the dealers I worked for had about $3500.00 above the sticker(mark-up) and $2500.00 below sticker to play with, before they start losing money.
Now back to you vehicle on-line, if you already have your local financing taken care of you can continue to the check out section give the local bank information, and order your new vehicle. It should be delivered within a month usually.

BMW and Mercedes will do European delivery of US spec cars. You may have to go through a dealer because car manufacturers are not designed to sell direct from the factory.

I wish it was possible, but it isn't. If you were able to go directly to the car manufacturers, there wouldn't be any dealerships because they wouldn't be needed. The cheapest you'll get a brand new car is during their family pricing and 0% financing, but don't be fooled, they're getting their money one way or another. Creative calculation at it's best. Watch those prices and small print.

You have to have a dealers license to buy directly from the manufacturer. W/out that, you're out of luck.

It takes more than a dealers license. You have to buy a franchise, a difficult and expensive process itself.
