alright right now my computer is in my room and i might move down the hall. my internet is hooked up by a cable to my dads modem. right now he has a speedstream modem and a 4 port network everywhere cable/dsl router. we have dsl for internet. now is there a way i can get wireless internet with having to buy a new router or modem?

Contrary to what some have posted, you do NOT have to buy a new wireless router. That will work, but isn't strictly necessary. You could add a Wireless Access Point (WAP) to the network instead.

Shop around and see which way works out cheapest for you. Keep in mind that setting up a WAP may be slightly easier than setting up a new router.

No. You have to have some sort of wireless access point or router. Also, your PC has to have a wireless network card.

He has to have a wireless router. That's the only way you can go wireless.

if you have the wireless connection facilites .. then you need not buy a new router or moderm ...... ll your pc would recieve the signal wireless ?? if so no problem , else you have to go for a new one ..

you need a wireless router...unless you are lucky enough like me to have a neighbor that has wireless and you can use it....and he doesn't know we are using it right now
