MY HUSBAND IS FROM AFRICA AND WE HAVE BEEN MARRIED FOR 10 YEARS--I AM NOT MUSLIM. HE ACTS LIKE HE IS 100% MUSLIM , the whole nine yars.BUT THERE IS ANOTHER WOMAN THAT HE CLAIMS IS ONLY A FRIEND AND SHE IS MUSLIM. HOWEVER, I DO NOT APPROVE OF THEIR FRIENDSHIP BUT HE REFUSES TO STOP BEING FRIENDS WITH HER. HE SAYS HE IS GROWN AND ONLY HAS TO ONLY ANSWER TO ALLAH AND HE SWEARS NOTHING IS GOING ON.

I think if you live in the USA or other country with a secular government, you can only have ONE legal wife. So, let's say he only has you as a legal wife. You are both muslims. It does not surprise me you are being treated like a slave. You knew what you were heading into when you married, didn't you? I mean, I could be a Christian white man and tell my Christian wife that I will do anything I want to do and I only answer to my special kind of God who may or may not punish me some day.
If that was the the case, and I were the wife instead, I will tell him to tell his higher power that he is getting in trouble, answering only to this higher power, because his wife is insisting he give up
his girlfriend. If he refuses, or says his higher power said it was A-OK to have as many wifes as he wants, and you don't agree, then be couragous and tell him to "take a hike" and divorce him, taling all his money and Allahs too. You will be happier. Then become an independent, free woman. Good luck.

I was the 'other' woman of a married muslim man, and that is what he used to tell his wife about me (that we were just friends).
I am now married to a man from Africa, but this is not the same man, and he is not muslim.
Good luck to you, I know how much situations like that can be hard and make you feel bad... I have no advice, but YES, the husband is supposed to let you know if he has other wives!!!

His belief is NOT something that affects the ties of a marriage. If his beliefs intrude that deeply, it is probably a fact that he will not try counseling to help save the relationship. Is he a 'false' muslim? I have no idea which church, if any, sanctioned this marriage, but he hasd to realize that, muslim or not, he is seriously jeopardizing the union. Assuming that you're in the US, if he has a wife in Africa and has married you here, your marriage here would automatically be illegal. He may have married you to just get his green card.

If he doesn't respect you enough to at least tell you about this woman or to listen to why you don't want him to see this woman then maybe you shouldn't be with this man after all.

NORMALLY HE SHOULD, BECAUSE THIS IS A CASE OF POLYGAMY AND EVEN IF HE IS MUSLIM, IN OTHER COUNTRIES HE CAN BE TRIALED FOR THAT.
